October’s Bright Blue Weather Poem — 7 Comments

  1. Every October this poem comes into my mind . I am 81 years old. This is one of my favorite poems! This poem among others such as “The First Snow fall”, “The children,s Hour, Annabel Lee and “How much do I love you”, I have passed on to my grandchildren .

    • That is such a treasure for your grandchildren. I enjoyed discovering these poems with my kids as they were not passed down from my parents. Thank you for sharing Barbara. 🙂

  2. My mother used to recite this poem every year on her birthday which was in October (oct. 9) it was so nice to see it ! Wonderful memories!!!

  3. My dad’s favorite poem. About a hundred years ago, in school and right before recess, the teacher had the students study this before going outside.

The influence of a someone taking advantage of a teachable moment has lasted for decades.

    • Thank you for sharing Warren. Sadly, I don’t remember much poetry in my schooling. I was happy to enjoy some beautiful pieces while homeschooling my kids. This is one we enjoyed. 🙂

  4. Lovely! I memorized this poem as a 10 year old in the 5th grade…one of the last teachers probably to have us memorize but what they don’t understand today is that memorization of poems like this helps in studying AND learning! Every year on the 1st of October I read this one!
