Yearly Assessment: Donnie
This is the assessment I did for Donnie for his 4th grade year. Because for the most part the kids do the same thing, it is almost, but not quite, repetitious of MaryEllen’s.

Student: Donnie Albright
Age: 10
Grade: 4
Parent Supervisor: Cynthia Albright

School Year: August 01, 2010 – July 31, 2011
Yearly Assessment
Donnie has improved very much this year in all subjects.
In math, he worked through Saxon 65. He has had no problem understanding the concepts and completing the assignments on his own. He has scored 90 or above on his tests.
Donnie went through Intermediate Language Lessons which teaches the student to write and speak properly. The book has them read and observe short stories, poems and pictures. It also has them write down their observations. He also did copywork and wrote short stories, concentrating on grammar, sentence and punctuation structure. He wrote a few book reports on the books he has read this year.
His spelling is coming along very nicely. He has shown improvement. A lot of his improvement has been in reading books. He has also done very well with vocabulary scoring 95 or above on each test.
Donnie took off with his reading and now picks up a book on his own to read for pleasure. He has read, numerous Hardy Boys, Winnie The Horse Gentler Series (8 books), Mr. Popper’s Penguins, Aurie’s Wooden Leg, Noah Webster and more.
For history, he learned about Daniel Boone and the opening of the West. We read out of Abraham Lincoln’s World and other books including, Daniel Boone and the Opening of the Wilderness.
He also learned who his state Governor and Representatives are.
He began learning the States, their capitals and placement on the map. He catches on quickly and has learned more than half this year. He will continue to learn the remainder into next year.
For science, he enjoyed reading through The Magic School Bus Series. The books included subjects such as, the earth, insects, anatomy, habitats, archeology, and kitchen chemistry.
He has also enjoyed nature outside, watching and observing the animals that visit our yard. He observed a nest from the time the young birds were just eggs until they hatched and learned to fly.

And that is it. Our year is officially over. LOL!
