2011-2012 Yearly Assessment For Donnie
I finished Donnie’s Yearly Assessment, which is required in the state of Georgia. It doesn’t have to be sent in, just kept on file.
Student: Donnie Albright
Parent Supervisor: Cynthia Albright
address goes here
School Year: August 01, 2011 – July 31, 2012
Donnie has improved very much this year in all subjects. He still needs direction, but is working toward independent study.
In math, he finished Saxon 65 and worked through Saxon 76. He has had no problem understanding the concepts and completing the assignments on his own. He has scored 90 or above on his tests.
He went through a course titled, “The Writing Course,” which teaches the student to write effectively. Through writing daily, for a half hour, the student learns grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence structure and more. Donnie did very well with the course.
He also took a semester of writing from the Institute for Excellence in Writing. This course taught outlining, topic sentences and writing paragraphs. It also went into depth on using adjectives, strong verbs and adverbs.
Donnie utilized English From the Roots Up Volume 1 to help with vocabulary. He has done real well and will continue with the second volume.
Donnie continues to enjoy reading and has read books during studies and in his free time. He reads at or above grade level. Some books he read this year are, Alice in Wonderland, Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates, Five Little Peppers and How They Grew, Louis Pasteur and more.
For science, he did an introductory course on the Human Anatomy. This included reading, narrating, notebooking, labeling and experiments.
History this year came through his reading and listening to audio books. He also learned about Ancient Egypt and some Jewish history.
He continues to learn cursive writing.
